Cookie Policy
This policy explains how PIER20 Ltd ("we", "us") uses cookies and similar technologies on pier20.com (the "site").
It should be read alongside our Privacy Notice.
1. What cookies are
A cookie is a small text file placed on your device when you visit a website. They help the site remember you between page loads and visits. "Cookies" here also includes similar technologies like pixels and local-storage objects that work the same way.
2. The kinds of cookies we use
The site uses two categories of cookie:
Strictly necessary cookies — needed for the site to function. These are set automatically and cannot be turned off in our system.
Analytics cookies — set only if you accept them via our cookie banner. They let us understand, in aggregate, how the site is used so we can improve it. We use Google Analytics 4 for this.
We do not set advertising or targeting cookies. We do not run ads, and we do not share analytics data with ad networks.
3. The cookies we set
Strictly necessary
| Cookie | Provider | Purpose | Lifespan |
|---|---|---|---|
| Consent preference (local storage) | pier20.com (first-party) | Remembers whether you accepted or rejected analytics cookies, so we don't re-prompt you | 6 months |
Cloudflare may also set session cookies as part of site security and delivery (Turnstile, DDoS protection). These are strictly necessary for the safe operation of the site and cannot be disabled while keeping the site functional.
Analytics (only after you accept)
These are set only after you click Accept on the consent banner. Until then, GA4 runs in cookieless mode (no identifiers stored on your device).
| Cookie | Provider | Purpose | Lifespan |
|---|---|---|---|
_ga |
Google LLC | Distinguishes unique visitors via a pseudonymous client ID | 2 years |
_ga_<container> |
Google LLC | Maintains session state for the GA4 measurement | 2 years |
| Ahrefs Analytics tag | Ahrefs (Ahrefs Lab) | Aggregate traffic and engagement metrics (script, not a persistent cookie) | session |
Google Analytics collects: pages viewed, visit duration, approximate location (country/city derived from IP address), device type, browser, and referrer. Google processes this data as a separate controller in the US under its own privacy policy, certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. You can review Google's privacy controls at myactivity.google.com.
4. Your choices
When you first visit, a banner asks you to Accept or Reject analytics cookies. Your choice is remembered for 6 months (stored in your browser's local storage, not a cookie).
You can change your mind at any time by:
- Clearing the consent entry (local storage →
p20-cookie-consent) in your browser, which re-shows the banner on your next visit, or - Adjusting your browser's cookie settings (see below).
Rejecting analytics cookies does not affect the parts of the site that work without them; you can still read every page and submit the demo form. You will simply not contribute to our analytics.
Browser controls
All major browsers let you block or delete cookies. Note that blocking strictly necessary cookies will stop parts of the site from working.
- Chrome — clear, enable, and manage cookies
- Safari — manage cookies and website data
- Firefox — enable and disable cookies
- Edge — delete and manage cookies
Third-party analytics opt-out
You can also opt out of Google Analytics across all sites that use it: tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
5. Do we use cookies for advertising?
No. We do not run advertising networks, retargeting pixels, or share data with advertising platforms.
6. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as our use of cookies changes (for example, when we add the newsletter). Material changes will be highlighted on the site.
